Before and after shots of repaired gable. The building was pre-1850 and the skews - the large stones making the apex- were sliding off. Beneath them the iron fixings were rusting away. We removed the skewcope and skewputs, replaced the rusted fixings with stainless steel and relaid and repointed with lime.
I was an Archaeologist before turning to traditional building work and am a Professional Member of the Dry Stone Walling Association (DSWA). I also have an NPA in Masonry Conservation and am a member of the Guild of Master Craftsmen.
I am based in Cowal, Argyll and work around Argyll, Glasgow, Loch Lomond and further afield.
